Picture of the World through Prism of Chinese and Belarusian Cultures, BSEU, December 6, 2019

II International Scientific and Practical Conference ” Picture of the World through Prism of Chinese and Belarusian Cultures ” was held on December 6, 2019, as part of the activities of the Confucius Classroom of the BSU Republican Institute of Sinology named after Confucius at the Belarusian State Economic University.

The conference brought together 116 participants, including representatives of 16 Belarusian educational institutions from Minsk, Grodno, Mogilev, Gomel, as well as 5 Chinese, 3 Russian, and 2 Ukrainian universities.

The plenary session of the conference was opened by M.V. Mishkevich, Dean of the School of International Business Communications. The participants of the conference were welcomed by A.M. Sedun, BSEU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, A.V. Volovik, head of the Information and Analysis Department of the BSU Republican Institute of Sinology named after Confucius, Yang Xuexin, Rector of Langfang Pedagogical University (PRC). Scientific reports at the plenary session were made by A.V. Morozov, Dr of Philology, Professor of the Department of Personnel Policy and Management Psychology of the Academy of Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, A.I. Smolik, Dr of Cultural Studies, head of the Department of Cultural Studies of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, Bai Lijuan, teacher at Hexi University (PRC), A.A. Kuyavsky, student of the Department of International Business Communications, BSEU (in Chinese).

A wide range of issues was discussed at the breakout sessions: the study of the linguistic and conceptual picture of the world of Chinese and Belarusians, the reflection of the national picture of the world in material and spiritual culture, the use of knowledge about the national language picture of the world in teaching foreign languages and intercultural communication, the development of Belarusian and Chinese cooperation.

Following the conference, a collection of all participants’ articles is planned to publish.
