As part of the Chinese Language and Culture Festival “China. Great Heritage,” a master class on making Chinese dumplings was held at the Belarus State Economic University. The event brought together second- and third-year students of the Faculty of International Business Communications studying Chinese as a foreign language, as well as third-year students from Hexi, China, studying Russian as a foreign language at BSEU.
The master class provided not only an opportunity to learn how to prepare the traditional dish, but also to gain deeper insight into Chinese culture. Students were introduced to the history of Chinese dumplings, their significance in Chinese cuisine, and the traditions associated with their preparation.
Under the guidance of experienced instructors – faculty members Zhang Hairong, Meng Jialiang, and Liu Hui – participants learned the proper techniques for kneading dough, preparing fillings, and shaping dumplings. Each participant had the opportunity to apply the acquired skills and create an authentic Chinese dish.
The event contributed not only to the development of culinary skills but also to the strengthening of intercultural ties among students from different countries. Participants exchanged impressions and gained a better understanding of each other’s cultures.
The festival “China. Great Heritage” and the dumpling-making master class became a notable event in the life of BSEU and contributed to the promotion of the Chinese language and culture. Such initiatives facilitate the preservation and transmission of cultural traditions, as well as the enhancement of international cooperation.
