The 2nd International Scientific and Practical Conference “Belarus – China trade and economic cooperation: topical issues” was held on 17 December 2021, at the Belarus State Economic University. The School of International Business Communications of BSEU organized it within the framework of the Confucius Cabinet of the Republican Institute of Sinology named after Confucius of the Belarus State Economic University, which has been operating at BSEU since 2013.
The researchers from different universities and research centres of Belarus, China and Ukraine took an active part in the conference.
The opening and plenary session of the conference took place in the format of an online broadcast. Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Belarus State Economic University Olga Anatolyevna Morozevich addressed the participants with an inspiring and welcoming speech and noted that, although circumstances force us to change the format of the events, the scientific dialogue will never stop. She wished the conference would become an annual activity. Further on, the participants were greeted by the director of the Republican Institute of Sinology named after Confucius BSU, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Anatoly Afanasievich Tozik; First Secretary for Education of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Belarus Li Bingguo; Rector of one of the leading partner universities of BSEU – Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics (Lanzhou, China) Tsai Wenhao; Head of the Scientific and Technical Innovation Department of the Industrial Park Development Company CJSC of the Great Stone China-Belarus Industrial Park Ma Ming.
Each speaker stressed that the Belarus-China relations have great potential, and ties in all spheres, including science and education, are becoming stronger and more reliable from year to year.
The conference continued with scientific reports of the participants.
During the plenary session, the reports were made by Denis Viktorovich Mukha, the Head of the Centre for Innovation and Investment Policy of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Alexander Mikhailovich Baranov, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Theory and World Economy of Francysk Skaryna Gomel State University; Galina Vladimirovna Turban, the Head of the Department of International Business of the Belarus State Economic University, the Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Trade Policy; Natalya Sergeevna Pavlovskaya, the Head of the Department of Foreign Trade and Cooperation with the WTO and the EEC of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus; Wurishana, the lecturer at the Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics; Kasyuk Natalya Stanislavovna, Associate Professor and Professor Jiang Jun, the director of the Chinese-Belarusian Centre for Intercultural Communications Institute as representatives of Dalian Polytechnic University.
The reports considered promising areas of economic cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus, in particular, issues of mutual investment, the formation of information clusters in the economy, the state and prospects for the development of exports of Belarusian dairy products to the Chinese market, strategies for the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the context of the COVID -19, and stylistic features of Chinese political discourse.
Further work of the conference was organized in an online format. A collection of articles will be published on the basis of the research papers presented by the conference participants.
