On April 14, the closing ceremony of the exhibition of the Chinese painter Dong Jiahui “Art Tour in Belarus” took place at the BSEU library. The exhibition was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Belarus.

The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Chinese Embassy.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Olga Anatolyevna MOROZEVICH addressed the audience with a welcoming speech on behalf of the administration of the Belarusian State Economic University. She noted that the Chinese culture at the university is developing from year to year, new partnerships are being established. And it is symbolic that the first exhibition, which was held in our library after renovation, is the art of China that has brought the spring warmth to everyone at the university.

The Dean of the Faculty of International Business Communications Yulia Alexandrovna SHAVRUK focused on the fact that FIBC makes the greatest contribution to the development of Belarusian-Chinese relations at the university. According to Yulia Alexandrovna, current trends in the labor market affect the educational process, and from the next academic year it is planned to start teaching Chinese as a second foreign language at the Faculty of Commerce and Tourism Industry.

Belarusian students studying Chinese as a second foreign language due to the activities of the  Confucius Classroom of the Republican Institute of Sinology Named after Confucius of BSU in the educational institution “Belarus State Economic University” together with students from China studying at our university expressed their gratitude to the artist in the form of a small concert.

At the end of the event, Dong Jiahui, the author of the paintings, was presented. The artist considers himself a follower of the Lingnan school. The style of the school was formed over a hundred years ago and embodies the unique features of the region’s culture. It combines innovative ideas with traditional Chinese and European painting techniques. Dong Jiahui expressed his gratitude to the administration of BSEU for the opportunity to hold the exhibition and presented Olga Anatolyevna Morozevich with a calligraphic work. He also painted the word “wisdom”, which will remain in our library and accompany everyone in the university.

We express special gratitude to the dean of the FIBC Yulia Aleksandrovna Shavruk and the associated dean Ruslan Egorovich Goncharov, the head of the department of English and Oriental languages Elena Aleksandrovna Malashenko and the head of the department of Belarusian and Russian languages Olga Nikolaevna Gubskaya. Also we want to thank the dean’s office for foreign students for their comprehensive support, teachers of Chinese and students of FIBC for organizing this event, and the library administration for providing space and equipment.
