The Confucius Classroom and the Teaching and Research Section of the Belarusian and Russian Languages at the Belarusian State Economic University jointly held, with the theme of “Language and Culture – Bridge of Communication”, a friendly language and cultural competition between Chinese and Belarusian students in Activity Hall at 16 o’clock, on March 12, 2019. The China-Belarus Cultural Exchange not only truly demonstrated the language learning of Chinese and Belarusian students, but fully aroused the enthusiasm of both Chinese and Belarusian students about studying and understanding of different languages and cultures.

There were two groups named “Friendship Without Borders” and “麻辣鸡丝 -холодец” totally made up of 25 students from BSEU, including 15 Chinese students and 10 Belarusians. This competition consisted of five parts, namely team introduction, knowledge contest, poetry reading, songs and dramas in Chinese or Russian languages settled by draw lots. The participants demonstrated good language speaking skills, learning ability, artistic talent, innovative spirit and respect and love for bilateral languages and cultures, which was warmly welcomed by the audience.

The judges and guests attending included Michail Vazlavovich Mishkevich, head of the Department of International Business Communication at BSEU, Ms. Song Yanwei, the Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute at BSU, etc. and more than 500 students from universities. At the end of the event, Michail Vazlavovich Mishkevich and Ms. Song Yanwei rewarded all Belarusian and Chinese students participating in the competition with souvenirs and expressed their good wishes for exchanges in many aspects between China and Belarus.
